Coming Attractions: Don Jon
We’ve known Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the actor, since his long-haired, is-that-a-girl-or-a-boy days in 3rd Rock From the Sun, and have watched him tackle interesting roles in some of the best films of the last decade: (500) Days of Summer, Inception, 50/50 and Looper, among others. Now, one of today’s brightest stars steps behind the camera for 2013’s Don Jon.
Jon Martello (Gordon-Levitt) is a modern day Don Juan who objectifies everything in his life, especially women. His friends call him Don Jon because of his ability to pull “10s” every weekend without fail. But his addiction to porn has made him dissatisfied with life and he sets out on a journey to find a more gratifying sex life. However, he ends up seeing the bigger picture and learning more about life and love through two different women.
Joe Gordon-Levitt’s movie screened at the Sundance Film Festival, where Entertainment Weekly managing editor Jess Cagle called it “one of the best movies I saw at the fest” and wrote, “funny, touching, smart, and supremely confident, Don Jon is also Gordon-Levitt’s feature directorial debut, and it establishes him as one of Hollywood’s most exciting new directors”.
The recently released trailer shows just how funny Joseph’s directorial debut will be, and showcases two potentially great performances by him and Scarlett Johansson. Check it out right below.
Could this be Scarjo’s first nude scene?

wow!! this could be a great project! i can’t imagine this would be anything less than stellar considering his tendency to just be simply awesome each and every time he performs in front of the camera. behind the camera i could only expect him to project these qualities across the entire production. looking forward to this, thanks for posting. 🙂

I wasn’t aware of this one but with JGL and the good lady Scarlet involved then I’m definitely interested.

I have high hopes for this one. I hope JGL is as good a director/writer as he is an actor.

Ach weell, looking at the subject matter, I’m not sure I have a shot at seeing this film, but I’m dying to. Love Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Hope you get to see it. You already saw Pulp Fiction, right? The door has been opened. If not, you can always sneak in! haha

Lol true. I actually asked my mother the other day if I could watch “Requiem for a Dream”.
“What’s it about?”
“Heroin.”
“Eh, whatever. I guess now that you’ve seen Pulp Fiction you can see anything.”
Now I just have to figure out whether or not she was joking. 🙂

LOL. Requiem for a Dream is much more intense, though. Very difficult to watch!
