Flash Review: Dredd [2012]
Even though Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) struck me as Christian Bale’s Batman meets Grumpy Cat, thus never letting me take him seriously, and despite the fact that it battles some minor pace issues (how can a 90-minute action movie feel long?), Dredd is an improvement over the similarly-themed The Raid. Inventive action, great performances by Olivia Thirlby, Lena Headey and Domnhall Gleeson, as well as stunning visuals (especially during the Slo-Mo scenes) are certainly worth the price of admission (or rental fee). Blu-Ray was invented for films like this.
One of my favorite from last year. It really did share a theme with THE RAID: REDEMPTION, as you point out. Thanks, Fernando.

It was surprisingly good, wasnt it? I definitely didnt expect it to be anywhere near as good as it was. 😀

Watching it many months after everybody else, I kinda knew what to expect, but I still liked it. And it looks amazing.

Nice review. It’s fun and has a butt-load of style that works; can’t go wrong with that.

Thanks. Yeah, very stylish film. The visuals were the strongest aspect of it, I think.

I liked the movie a lot, but it certainly had his issues. I’m a huge fan of Urban though, so seeing him in anything is always great. I do agree the visuals are amazing. Who knew an action movie could be so beautiful?

I like Urban as well, but I just didn’t buy him in this role. The film looks beautiful, though. I wasn’t expecting those visuals. Like I said, Blu-Ray was made for films like Dredd.

So sad to see this one bomb at the box office, I guess we’ll never get to see where the franchise might’ve gone

It wasn’t the best movie, but certainly better that most of the crap that shows today. Fun enough, and with AMAZING visuals. Here’s to hoping it does well on Blu-Ray and DVD.

Well, now it’s your job to photoshop grumpy cat underneath that helmet. Seriously.
I give Urban more credit, though. He really is the embodiment of that character. And yea…those slo-mo scenes. Insane.

I’d love that, but I suck at Photoshop! Googled “grumpy cat dredd” and apparently some people agree with me. Found this:

It did seem pretty old-school, but I just couldn’t get behind Urban’s performance. Couldn’t take “Grumpy Cat” out of my mind! lol Oh, and thanks for following!

You’ve met him too? First Hiddleston and now Urban? I’me very jealous.

“Christian Bale’s Batman meets Grumpy Cat” Ahahaha, love that Fernando! I saw this on Blu-ray as well and I don’t think I could handle THIS much violence on the big screen. I LOVE Karl but I prefer seeing roles that show his entire handsome face 😉

I figured you’d say that, haha. But yeah, maybe if we could see his whole face he’d be a little less like Grumpy Cat.

Funny that Karl’s character in Star Trek is also very grumpy, ahah. In real life he seemed like an affable fellow though.

He definitely has that “grumpy” look, but glad to hear he was nice.

Well I never met him in person, he just seems like a nice guy in interviews 😀

I am not a fan of 3D either, but I was in the theater and I just kept saying “I bet this looks cool in 3D!”

Yeah. I bet that among the tons of 3D releases, Dredd looked especially good, like Hugo.
