Hannah and Her Sisters [1986]
The more Allen films I see, the more I’m aware that most of them follow the same format, yet they’re all incredibly different. It’s a testament to his talent that he can turn in dozens of films about relationship woes set to jazzy scores and manage to keep people laughing and charming his audience. Woody shines as director, actor and, most importantly, writer. The scenes in which he’s on screen bring the comic relief. Barbara Hershey, Mia Farrow, Michael Caine, Max Von Sydow and especially Dianne Wiest are great at the more dramatic parts.
It’s hard to believe this film is almost 3 decades old. I haven’t seen it in years, but it was one of Allen’s biggest hits. Glad you enjoyed it.

I need to see this. I’ve seen six or seven Woody Allen films since I saw my first (Annie Hall) in November.

I’ve not seen this, I haven’t actually seen many Woody Allen films aside from Match Point and Melinda and Melinda. I really need to see Annie Hall, and will check this one out seeing as you liked it!

It’s great. You should also check out Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Everyone Says I Love You and The Purple Rose of Cairo.

This is a great flick that shows Allen’s comedic writing but also some very deep dramatic moments as well. The ensemble is perfect and I think that Caine deserved the Oscar that he got because every time he was on-screen, I could just feel the film getting better and better. Good review.

Haha, I’m sorry. I’ve been busy and I actually wanted to see it a second time before reviewing but I don’t think that’s gonna happen. I think I’ll write it today and it’ll be going up on Friday, because there are two other reviews before it.
