Born Into Film: 1990
Hello all! Hope everybody still remembers me. My main resolution this year is to get back to blogging and, slowly but surely I will, dammit!
My first post of the year is an idea I stole from the awesome Michael over at the incredible It Rains…You Get Wet, which he, in turn, took from the now extinct Front Room Cinema. It goes like this:
List a group of films that were released on the year you were born that you would still like to watch today. No rules on list length, it is up to you. As a bonus, list 3 people or so that were born the same year as you that you admire, either because of their acting / directing / writing skills, or even just because they are hot.
The year:
The 5 films:

Harrowing film; Robert DeNiro is, as always, solid, but it’s Robin Williams who shines brightest

A fantastically creepy villain brought to life by a superb Kathy Bates

Quirky and funny; it also includes one of Winona Ryder’s finest performances

A pretty bad film with an even worse lead actor, yet I still love it

The nostalgic choice; adored seeing this movie as a kid and that scene where ice cream falls from the sky is, well, heaven
The three gorgeous, talented women:

Emma Watson (April 15)

Jennifer Lawrence (August 15)

Margot Robbie (July 2)
Hey Fernando, welcome back! I love Awakenings, Misery and Home Alone although I’ve never seen Mermaids or Duck Tales! Agree with your choices for the hot picks too!

Thanks, Andy! I would recommend Mermaids. It’s a fun flick. I love DuckTales but it could be just the nostalgia talking.

Lol I’ve only seen ‘Home Alone’ and ‘Duck Tales’ though I have completely lost all recollection of having seen the latter. The poster is hella familiar though, and I’m about 90% sure I’ve seen it.

Great post, Fernando! I love the idea!! I might have to try this out sometime myself. I can’t help but love Home Alone, even if it’s not critically that great. And I like your picks for the ladies as well . . . love J-Law and Emma Watson! Two incredibly talented and beautiful actresses who happened to be born in the same year. 😀

Home Alone is just so easily lovable, despite its flaws.
