The top 10 actors who irrationally annoy the shit out of me
Inspired by the mighty Abbi’s recent posts over at her online home, Where the Wild Things Are (hit that “Follow” button ASAP, if you haven’t already), I now present my list of the actors and actresses who annoy me the most.
Maybe I’ve lost my hateful edge this week, but I had a real hard time coming up with the people listed here. I thought they would come pouring out, but I actually had to reduce it to just one countdown (I was going to do one for the guys and one for the girls).
However, I’m aware that as soon as I post this and you guys start sharing your own picks, I’d be kicking myself for not including certain people, so I’m leaving the door open for a Part II.
As Abbi so eloquently put it:
There are some actors and actresses that really make you want to see a film to the point where you will literally see anything they’re in. But then there are other actors and actresses that make actively avoid their films even when they actually look like they might be good. Sometimes this hatred has a logical, solid basis – like they have zero talent or keep picking absolute stinkers… and then other times you can’t completely explain why you want to stab them in the eye with a sharpened spoon… now if only I had a spoon for these bitches…
With you, the supreme pains in my cinematic ass.
Johnny Depp
But why? I’m so sick of him playing the same character ever since Jack Sparrow, as well as of the endless adoration by pretty much everyone in the world. Also, he’s a douche and possibly the most overrated actor “working” today.
Ugh factor: 9/10
The only exception: there are many, because while I can’t stand him, I recognize he is a very talented guy. Ed Wood is a highlight.
Gabourey Sidibe
But why? Can’t stand her! I don’t think she’s a good actress and I really don’t buy her “I’m-morbidly-obese-and-I’m-loving-it” schtick.
Ugh factor: 10/10
The only exception: None
Ashton Kutcher

My dream
But why? Talentless and loud and obnoxious, Ashton Kutcher is the ultimate man-child and I hate that he’s so popular because he really shouldn’t be.
Ugh factor: 8/10
The only exception: His voice work in Open Season (seriously)
Will and Jaden Smith

Go on, Will! Punch him!
But why? Daddy tries too hard and son doesn’t try enough. I just know Will is evil and I’m also tired of him trying to force his awful children on us. Jaden is also super dumb.
Ugh factor: 7/10 (Will) and 10/10 (Jaden)
The only exception: No exceptions for Jaden, of course. Will is actually a talented actor and I quite liked him in The Pursuit of Happyness.
Kristen Stewart
But why? I know this is a tired choice but, like most of the world, I’m so annoyed by Kristen Stewart because she’s so dull and sullen and expressionless. I dislike her even more because she’s really pretty but is hell-bent on looking like shit. I bet she smells awful, too.
Ugh factor: 6/10
The only exception: Panic Room, Into the Wild
Mike Myers
But why? So unfunny; his comedy’s so gimmicky and derivative and he actually repulses me physically a bit.
Ugh factor: 10/10
The only exception: None
Taylor Kitsch
But why? So, so bland; the Canadian Sam Worthington. Manages to put you to sleep despite that face and the very cool name.
Ugh factor: 2/10
The only exception: None yet, but I hear he’s good in The Grand Seduction
Samuel L. Jackson
But why? This will be my most controversial choice, I’m sure. And the worst part is that I don’t even know why. But, man, I cannot stand Sam Jackson. I see him and my eyes start rolling on their own!
Ugh factor: 5/10
The only exception: His glorious, award-worthy turn in Pulp Fiction. He was also pretty good in Django Unchained.
Ken Jeong
But why? Has made a career out of being short and Asian and annoying and having a tiny dick. Painfully unfunny, even in Community.
Ugh factor: 10/10
The only exception: None
Maria Bello
But why? This is the most irrational entry on my list. She’s a decent enough actress, not to mention hot, but I just can’t stand her.
Ugh factor: 5/10
The only exception: The Cooler
Awww, I like Maria Bello! I agree with the majority of the others though! Megan Fox, Mark Wahlberg and Seth Rogen would be on my list!

Glad we’re mostly in agreement, except for Maria Bello, but I just don’t like her!
Megan Fox is annoying alright, but I love Rogen and especially Wahlberg.

Sorry, I forgot Shia LaBeouf of course!

Aw, I like him a lot. But I can understand the hate.

The Mighty Abbi… I like it. I think I’m going to use it in my daily life! I definitely agree on The Smiths. Urgh! But I love Mike Myers in Wayne’s World and Austin Powers. There are some others on the list that don’t annoy me AS much but I can see why they would grate you!

You SHOULD use it! 😉
Glad we agree on the Smiths and cool that you still enjoy some Myers.

Whoop! I’ve inspired the lovely Fernando at Committed to Celluloid to share some actor and actor hate. Check out who is getting on his nerves here.

Wow we have a lot in common Fernando! Depp doesn’t annoy me all the time, but I’m not super crazy about him lately. I don’t get the fascination over Maria Bello either, she strikes me as a boring and cold person. Ken Jeong seems to relish in being annoying, which bothers me even more. As for Stewart, well do we need an explanation?? She’s irritating AND obviously devoid of any acting talent.

Will Smith’s nepotism is so revolting I now refuse to see any of his films, both his and his kid!

Good list!!!!!!! For me, being easily annoyed by people, this list could be miles long. I’d include most of these people (I don’t know enough about Taylor Kitsch to say he’s enough to make a list, but I’ll go ahead and agree anyway lol), plus a few others: Melissa McCarthy (for pretty much the same reasons you mention about Gabourey Sidibi. I think the thing that frustrates me the most about McCarthy is that she’s typecasting herself as the incredibly obnoxious obese woman but she’s displayed so much more range and talent before. And there’s that other comedy coming up (can’t remember the name) where she looks to be really good again. Just wish people would stop squandering their talents like she does. She’s a prime example.

Thanks a lot, Tom! I get easily annoyed by people, that’s why I was surprised I could only come up with 10.
Anyways, McCarthy doesn’t bother me as much, BUT I do agree with your point.

Jaden Smith hate is not irrational hate! He’s a little shut but I’m glad he’s around just because he says the most ridiculous things!

That being said, you know where I stand with a lot of actors- Depp, McCarthy, etc. I am never too shy to voice my heated opinions. As for your list, I agree with everyone except for Kitsch. I wasn’t a huge fan of him before, but after watching Friday Night Lights, I’ve come around to him as I think he’s one of the best characters on the show. I also though he was the only decent part of Savages.
I may have to write my own list!!

Yep, remember how much you love them 😉
I haven’t seen Friday Night Lights. Maybe that’d change my mind on him. Didn’t like him in Savages either.
And would love to see your list!

I love you too, Nick.

Umm disagree with K-Stew the most, but she’s a popular target so I’m not exactly surprised. I cannot fucking stand the Smiths, especially Will. He’s a great person/advocate for humanity and intellect, but my god is he overrated. Depp is another who’s last 10 years have been absolutely atrocious.

She’s a popular target for a reason 😉 haha
I really hope she starts smiling more and making more of an effort, because she’s shown talent.
And totally agree on Will Smith.
Depp needs to take a damn break.

I might have to make one of these! I agree with most of your list, though I thought Taylor Kitsch was pretty good in ‘Friday Night Lights.’

Yes, everyone should do their own black list! And haven’t seen Kitsch in that show, actually.

You should check it out, it’s a pretty good series! I didn’t think I’d like it since it’s all about football but I got sucked into it on Netflix, haha.

I hate Olivia Munn because she is only ever photographed from the left side. What the fuck is she hiding? I also hate Imogen Poots for her stupid last name which she should have changed when she decided to become a public figure, and Anna Paquin for those horrible southern accents she and everyone else on True Blood assaults my ears with. Matthew McConaughey needs to quit playing the guy from Dazed and Confused already as it has been 22 years! Lastly, Chris Evans and Chris Pine, because I’m sure they are actually the same person.
LikeLike
This is hilarious. Didn’t know that about Olivia Munn, LOL! But yeah, I definitely get why that would be annoying. Poots doesn’t bother me (or I don’t really care about her, tbh). Haven’t seen True Blood, so can’t comment on Paquin’s accent, haha!
But yes, Matthew needs to get over that!
About the Chrisses, I actually like them, so wouldn’t add them to my list, especially Evans.
Thanks for following!

This was an amazing list and you have got me thinking of who would be in my top 10. I am hurt by K-Stew getting named but I understand, I’m seriously only one of the few that would date her in a heartbeat ha ha. Melissa McCarty would be #1 on my list because I refuse to watch anything with her in it (like Tammy) but will try to come up with my own list on the weekend. Thanks for such a creative idea!!

It’s all thanks to Abbi. I’m glad everyone likes the concept and wants to make their own list.
Sorry about K-Stew! Hehe, and while I still like McCarthy, I can definitely understand the negative feelings toward her

Johnny Depp doesn’t like his own movies either, if it makes you feel any better. He says he’d rather eat cockroaches.
I didn’t know who Gabourey Sidibe was, but upon research, I think I enjoyed the five seconds she had in Tower Heist. Or I thought they were extremely awkward. One of the two.
Ashton Kutcher is so hot though! Lol I’m just kidding. 🙂 I used to watch reruns of Punk’d with him when I was in sixth grade…some time before I developed a mind. For the record, I’ve never seen him in a role I’ve enjoyed, and maybe that’s because I’ve successfully avoided most of his movies. Though I do want to see Jobs, kind of. It doesn’t look any good, I just want to see it.
Yeah I feel like Will could act at one point but once Jaden was born his existence in Hollywood became a father-son relationship in which the father keeps pushing the son and doing everything with him and they’re never not smiling together. Annoys the hell out of me. Come to think of it, I don’t even think I’ve seen any of the movies that are supposedly Will’s best, like Hitch or Ali.
Thank you for at least putting Panic Room as an exception for K-Stew. Also, Speak. Those two movies are significant proof that she can act and she is simply no longer trying.
Mike Myers? Come on, Shrek was part of my childhood.d
That is a very cool name…Taylor Kitsch. Shame he can’t act.
Oh my god. This can’t be happening. There’s no way Samuel L. Jackson is on this list. No way, motherfucker. Those two exceptions are great, but he’s a badass in literally every movie!
I guess I can understand Ken Jeong being on the list. Though I loved him in The Hangover.
To be honest, I haven’t seen Bello in a good movie at all.
LikeLike
Well, at least he’s aware that they suck.
I’ve actually only seen Sidibe in Precious and Seven Psychopaths and didn’t like her in neither of them.
Punk’d was fun but I think Kutcher is a terrible actor.
Yeah, I haven’t seen Will’s best movies but I dislike him so much that I may never do so.
She was great in Panic Room. Haven’t seen Speak but I remember how much you love that one.
Ugh. I hate the Shrek franchise. But that’s probably because the Mexican dubbing was so awful.
One of the coolest actor names, but he is so wooden.
Sorry. I can’t stand Sam.
Ugh, I hate Ken Jeong in everything (because he’s pretty much the same in everything he does).
She has been in good movies (The Cooler, Prisoners, The Company Men, World Trade Center, Thank You for Smoking) but she hasn’t impressed me yet.

Out of curiosity, why isn’t Benedict Cumberbatch on the list? Am I the only one who would put him as my number one?

Wow, great list, great post. Definitely had me laughing and agreeing a lot of the way through. I’m with you on Ashton Kutcher and Kristen Stewart, but I am a fan of Johnny Depp, even though he does have quite a few bad movies. I’m actually not that big of a fan of Melissa McCarthy, although I did like her in Gilmore Girls back when. Am I allowed to put Taylor Swift on my list? Because she’s barely been in anything, but she’s going to show up in The Giver, and I really can’t stand her singing and/or acting.

I actually haven’t seen Swift act but I like her and her music.
