Coming Attractions: Gone Girl
A new David Fincher movie is an event I look forward to with the giddy anticipation of a child on Christmas morning. Second only to Pedro Almodóvar, he’s the director I most admire, with a body of work so impresssive it simultaneously makes me want to cry and obssesively watch it in its entirety.
Fincher alone has brought us Se7en, Fight Club, Zodiac, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Social Network, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, House of Cards, as well as this masterpiece.
Now we get a full-length trailer for the adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s super successful novel, Gone Girl, written for the screen by the author herself and, of course, directed by the filmmaker that has come to define the modern thriller.
On his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne finds out that his wife, Amy, has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick’s portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his deceits and strange behavior have everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?
Gone Girl will be released in October of 2014 and stars Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Patrick Fugit, Scoot McNairy, Casey Wilson and Missi Pyle.
I’m really excited for this. I’m not a big Affleck fan but I can really see him in this role.

I’m following Affleck’s career with interest now he seems to have put all the disastrous rom-coms and terrible action films behind him. I still think he’s better behind the camera though.

I do too. But I quite like him in front as well.

Tyler Perry is going to be in this!!! Oh god, run!!! Nah, just kidding. Likely he’ll factor in in such a minor way it won’t matter. But to be honest man I’m also not the hugest Ben Affleck supporter, but I don’t dislike him by any means. I think he’s quite average personally but his directorial prowess has impressed me more. This, however, looks awesome. I can’t wait for it.

Yeah, I hope his role is tiny.

And dude, I’m totally Team Affleck. Solid actor, even better writer/directot. Cannot wait for this film. I’m reading the book and it’s pretty good so far.
