From and Inspired By: The Desolation of Smaug + The Fault In Our Stars
It’s the return of “From and Inspired By“, a feature where I turn the spotlight on the music from the movies.
Frankly, I just wanted an excuse to preach about Ed Sheeran. I was lucky to see him in concert this Friday and it was amazing! The 23 year-old musician from England is one of the finest and most talented performers I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing live: a virtuoso guitarist, owner of a flawless voice and even an accomplished rapper. Here’s the breathtakingly beautiful “I See Fire”, Sheeran’s contribution to the soundtrack of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (it sounds great live!)
Ed also sings over the end credits of the upcoming, much-anticipated The Fault in Our Stars, a romantic drama starring Shailene Woodley. This very Friday, his video “All of the Stars” premiered on YouTube. Here it is.
CHOOOOOOOOOONE!

I do like a bit of Ed. His sound is quite twee but he has really gritty lyrics. Love the combination.

Love love love Ed Sheeran! I think right now his album +/- is the one I listen most to on my iPod. So intense but also great lyrics. Very excited he’s done the TFIOS song.

I’ve never heard of Ed before Fernando, but I heard The Fault of Our Stars does have a pretty good soundtrack.

I love his music and I think he did /incredible/ with The Hobbit. Such a beautiful song. Not sure I’ll be able to hear the TFIOS end credits song after the film though, everyone’s gonna be sobbing so loud…
