Llewyn Davis and Bill Weasley… in space
If you’ve been close to an internet connection or TV screen this morning, you already know that the cast for the as-yet-untitled Episode VII of Star Wars has -at last- been announced.
After much speculation, there’s no Lupita Nyong’o, Zac Efron or Benedict Cumberbatch to be found on the list, but a few other up-and-coming thespians.
If you know me or have been following this blog for a while, you know I’m not a fan of the franchise, but no matter: I’ll probably be at the cinema on December 18th, 2015, because of the presence of two of my favorite actors as of late.
I’ll watch anything that features both Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis, Drive, Sucker Punch) and Domnhall Gleeson (About Time, Harry Potter, Dredd, Anna Karenina).
I’m also looking forward to seeing Andy Serkis (LOTR, The Prestige, Rise of the Planet of the Apes; met him at Comic-Con), Adam Driver (great in TV’s Girls) and Max Von Sydow (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, The Seventh Seal).
John Boyega (Attack the Block) and Daisy Ridley are also part of this new adventure, and they’re joined by Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker from the original films.
Check out this photo of the cast at a script reading, shared today by the official Star Wars site, and click on it for the full info regarding the announcement.
So, what do you think of these casting news? Any name in particular that you’re excited to see with a lightsaber? Tell me in the comments.
And if Abrams throws a lens flare in, I’m tossing popcorn at the screen 😉

It’s not a matter of “if” but “when” and “how many times”.

J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars is going to have more lens flare than you can shake a light sabre at! I’m not a fan of the originals either, but I too will be in the queue mainly because of who is involved and out of curiosity!

Who knows? It might actually be good!

I think this is a great cast. Will be interesting to see if they get something worthwhile to work with.

Yeah, I think we’re all wondering the same thing.

I’m so happy and excited to see Domnhall Gleeson on the list! He did an excellent job in About Time.

Yes! He’s quickly becoming one of my favorites. He was just superb in that film.

I’m thrilled w/ Oscar Isaac casting, yay! But that means those rumors of Benedict Cumberbatch in this is just a rumor then 😦
