Coming Attractions: Jersey Boys + The Immigrant

Hello everybody! I know I’ve neglected this feature, which is strange because it’s the easiest and least time-consuming, but I came across a trailer today that deserves all the attention! Why I hadn’t heard of this film before I don’t know.

The Immigrant stars Marion Cotillard, Joaquin Phoenix and Jeremy Renner (I know, right?!) and this is the plot synopsis, per IMDb:

On the mean streets of Manhattan, Ewa falls prey to Bruno, a charming but wicked man who takes her in and forces her into prostitution.

It’s directed by James Gray (We Own the Night, The Yards, Two Lovers). Here’s the gorgeous trailer.

Amazing, right? Loved the sepia tones, reminiscent of The Godfather, and the use of magical realism. Hope James Gray and the cast deliver.

Besides great dramas like The Immigrant seems poised to be, I am also a sucker for musicals, that’s why I couldn’t resist sharing the preview for Jersey Boys, based on the successful Broadway show, chronicling the rise of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Clint Eastwood occupies the director chair. Behold the trailer, wich features great music and fourth-wall breaking.

So, what did you think of these previews? Tell me in the comments! And don’t forget to check out my friend Amon’s montage of this year’s upcoming summer blockbusters! Oh, and this is my 500th post! YAY 🙂
