A forecast for the Oscar noms
Hello everyone! With just 24 hours to go before the announcement of the nominees for the 86th Academy Awards by Chris Hemsworth and Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs, I want to share with you my predictions for some of the main categories. Some of these were very hard to pick, especially Best Actor, but I’m feeling confident about my choices.

Leonardo DiCaprio – The Wolf of Wall Street
Bruce Dern – Nebraska
Tom Hanks – Captain Phillips
Could sneak in:
Robert Redford – All is Lost
Christian Bale – American Hustle
Joaquin Phoenix – Her
Best Actress in a Leading Role
Cate Blanchett – Blue Jasmine
Sandra Bullock – Gravity

Meryl Streep – August: Osage County
Best Actor in a Supporting Role
Jared Leto – Dallas Buyers Club
Michael Fassbender – 12 Years a Slave
Barkhad Abdi – Captain Phillips
Bradley Cooper – American Hustle
Daniel Brühl – Rush
Could sneak in:
Jonah Hill – The Wolf of Wall Street
James Franco – Spring Breakers
Best Actress in a Supporting Role
Lupita Nyong’o – 12 Years a Slave
Jennifer Lawrence – American Hustle
Julia Roberts – August: Osage County
June Squibb – Nebraska
Oprah Winfrey – The Butler
Could sneak in:
Sally Hawkins – Blue Jasmine
Margot Robbie – The Wolf of Wall Street
Scarlett Johansson – Her
I don’t see Johansson getting a nod, not with all of the other amazing supporting performances we’ve seen this year. I also doubt Franco gets one for Spring Breakers, but otherwise I think your predictions very solid, probably even likely.

Yeah, I don’t think it’ll happen either, but everyone seems to love her performance, so I had to include her as a (distant) possibility. Same goes for Franco.

Meryl Streep as might sneak in and not as one of the actual contenders. “Et tu, Fernando?” 😉

LOL. While I would love for my favorite actress to get yet another Oscar nomination, I also don’t think she’s got it in the bag. Her buzz has not been as strong lately.

I told you to stick by her. LOL Watch her performance. It’s WAY over the top, but she’s great as usual. She deserved to be nominated.

I should have stuck by Meryl. Oh well. I’m sure that it’s deserved and I’m sure I’ll love her work.

I don’t see any big surprises in the big categories you mention. Almost every nominee is a lock given how “weak” in a sense, 2013 was, especially with Actresses. I do hope there are few shockers though!
