Flash Review: Before Sunset [2004]

Despite a rough, awkward start, and the fact that there’s even less of a plot now, Before Sunset is a success because the conversations between Jesse and Céline are even more fascinating. Significantly darker and heavier than its predecessor, the Paris-set sequel is one of the best I’ve ever seen and almost at the level of that enchanting trip through Vienna. Delpy and Hawke are magnificent once again, doing wonders in front of the camera and contributing to the legendary screenplay. Who thought of that ending? Whoever did, they’re a genius.
