Hollywood’s biggest night
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
Tonight, the movie year of 2012 draws oficially to a close, and so does the always interesting award season, perfect fodder for discussion amongst us movie geeks and aficionados.
For this guy, it’s the single most important day of the year. As I’ve said before, if Christmas and my birthday had sex, the resulting baby would be Oscar day. I am beyond thrilled.
Obviously, I’m looking forward to seeing some of my favorite thespians and filmmakers, and watching them pick up an Oscar statuette for the first (or third) time. But I’m also very curious about Seth MacFarlane and how he’ll fare as a host, as well as the highly anticipated tributes to movie musicals and the 50 years of James Bond in cinema.
Me and my friend Laura will be heading to our friend Stephanie’s house (three film buffs who found each other in high school; it’s awesome) to watch the big show. We’ll also have a little Oscar pool going on. Whoever wins will be treated to -what else?- a trip to the movies, courtesy of the two losers!
I’ll be watching at home on my own, as soon as they start arriving on the red carpet. Six hours of unmissable TV. Enjoy the show.

Unmissable is the perfect adjective. Have fun, Steve!

Sadly no Oscar party in this little town. But I will be watching at home with my lovely wife!

Happy watching Fernando! We’re showing MOONRISE KINGDOM, which I think should have been the 10th Best Picture nominee, then rushing back to catch the red carpet coverage. Next year, we hope to have a viewing party. After all, the Oscars are a movie fan’s Super Bowl 🙂

That sounds exciting and fun! Enjoy the show, P! And yes, it’s our Super Bowl. I actually said that to a friend last night. She didn’t “get” my fascination with the Oscars.

I’m going to be very much asleep unfortunately. Doesn’t start until the early hours here and I have work tomorrow. Maybe next year I’ll book the following day off and make a night of it!

The ceremony is usually so long that many people in the States are in the same situation. I’ll probably end up doing what I always do, stay up and struggle to wake up for work the next morning.

That’s a great idea. Hope you do that next year.

Well as you know, I did watch the Oscars and did my first Live Bloggin’. It was quite exhausting so not sure I’d do it again. You already know I’m VERY disappointed w/ the Bond tribute 😦
