Spotlight on the ‘Best Animated Short’ Oscar nominees
Hey everybody! Hope you’re having a fantastic weekend so far. My Zero Dark Thirty review was scheduled for yesterday but I pushed it for today so I could share Justin’s Cinephile Problems. Then I pushed it back another day in order to showcase these fantastic, Oscar-nominated shorts. I’m afraid they might take these down any minute, so that’s why I decided to pospone my ZDT review (expect that one tomorrow).
Please enjoy these films. They’re all pretty awesome and drew a huge dorky smile on my face!
The frontrunner: Paperman (John Kahrs)
Head Over Heels (Timothy Reckart and Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly)
Adam and Dog (Minkyu Lee)
Fresh Guacamole (PES)
Maggie Simpson in “The Longest Daycare” (David Silverman)
Great! I’d only seen Paperman, which I still adore. Thanks, Fernando.

Paperman brought some moisture to my eyes when I saw it with Wreck it Ralph. Just watched Adam and Dog and the same thing may or may not have almost happened.

They’re pretty moving. The one that got me the most was Head Over Heels, though.

That’s awesome – thanks Fernando. It says a lot about the quality of the competition this year that there are other films that are even a patch on Paperman.

Like many, it was only Paperman i’d seen but these are all great. I’d still go for Paperman if I had to though. I watched it online and thought it was brilliant. I then saw it at the cinema and it’s even better. You get a much better feel for the hand drawn images.

I bet it looks stunning on the big screen. Loved it, and I think it’s the one to beat. Although I wouldn’t be too mad if Head Over Heels won.
