Flash Review: Amour

4 stars

Amour pigeon Intimate, harrowing account of an elderly woman’s (Emanuelle Riva) physical and mental decline after two devastating strokes. The love and devoted attention by her healthier, but still old and slow, husband (Jean-Louis Trintignant) is heartbreaking. Riva and Trintignant deliver noteworthy, committed performances and Michael Haneke spins a simple tale that at times it’s scarier than a horror film since, you know, this could probably happen to any of us.
