Silver Linings Playbook: We all go a little mad sometimes
Directed by: David O. Russell
Written by: David O. Russell; based on the novel by Matthew Quick
Starring: Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver, John Ortiz, Julia Stiles, Shea Whigham, Chris Tucker
Look, I don’t know if it’s because quite some time has passed since I saw the film, or if I’m just a bit tired or if it’s writer’s block but I have no idea what to write about this film. I just know that, despite it being difficult to watch sometimes, I loved it. The writing is superb and so is the acting. Robert De Niro makes a great comeback after years of thankless roles in mostly awful films. Jennifer Lawrence keeps proving why she’s the best actress of her generation and why she’ll go on to become one of the all-time greats. But the biggest surprise was Bradley Cooper. He had shown talent before, of course, but he’s just brilliant in SLP. My favorite 2012 performance so far.
I so agree! With everything (except for the difficult-to-watch-at-times)!
Wanted to write a review as well, but nothing interesting came to my mind.

Haha, glad I’m not the only one who had a hard time.

Funny you had nothing to write about it, and funny you had that feeling with a film you really enjoyed. That has happened to me but with movies I did not like.
LikeLike
Yeah. That hadn’t happened to me before! Only with movies I didn’t particularly care for.

Sometimes that’s all that needs to be said! 🙂 I get like that sometimes, when I either liked or didn’t like something but still didn’t really have much to say. Still need to see this, very much looking forward to doing so.

Nice review. I really liked this one. I’m not overly keen on David O. Russell’s work, but this was a great film, plus it has De Niro’s strongest performance in fifteen years.

Thanks. Yeah, not a huge fan of Russell either but it was nice to see De Niro in a role that deserved him.

Nice, succinct review Fernando. Glad you love this one too. Lawrence was a revelation, and I agree Cooper was a pleasant surprise as I never thought of him as a decent actor. Nice to see De Niro in a good role as well.

Sometimes less is more dude, and all your good things and positive vibes about it make me want to see it even more! That, combined with how much I love De Niro and am maybe in love with Lawrence! 🙂

I found something to ramble on about, but our conclusion is the same. I’ll be picking up the Blu-ray for sure.

Great review man, good to see this one getting some love at the oscars too 🙂

Thanks. And yeah, very happy for how it’s done so far. I’d be thrilled if Cooper took home the Oscar, and that’s coming from a HUGE Day-Lewis fan. I don’t think it will happen, though, lol.

Yes, it is! I thought about writing nothing but the movie was so good, I had to at least write something. Acknowledge it, you know? lol
