From and Inspired By – Cinema Italiano
Hello readers, hope you’re liking the new features I’ve been adding to FernandoRafael. For the second From and Inspired by I chose Cinema Italiano (the Ron Fair remix) by Kate Hudson, taken from the Nine soundtrack. This was one of the movies I’ve looked forward to the most. The sheer magnificence of its cast led me to believe it would be a masterpiece. It wasn’t. I felt disappointed by Academy Award-winner Rob Marshall’s adaptation of the stage musical (based on Fellini’s 8 1/2 ) as it didn’t live up to my insane expectations but it wasn’t a total disaster. Marion Cotillard and Penélope Cruz were amazing in their roles and some songs were really fun, including this selection. Enjoy!
REALLY want to see Nine. I’ve been wanting to for a while (I find it odd that a film named 9 and a film named Nine both came out in 2009, though it was probably intentional), but now I’m DYING to see it after seeing DDL in There Will Be Blood. Also, I love Federico Fellini’s 8 1/2, so that’d probably make me enjoy it even more than if I didn’t. Great post, I’m liking the new feature!

It’s pretty enjoyable, and I imagine even more so if you don’t go in with super-high expectations. The art direction and costumes are very good and the cast delivers, Cotillard and Cruz being the standouts. Some songs are atrocious, though. Cinema Italiano is one of the best. Thanks!
