Introducing: From and Inspired By

Music and film make up one of the best marriages in the history of our civilization. Music can function without a visual counterpart but  a film without music loses much of its impact and feels incomplete. With this new feature, I’ll be highlighting some of the best songs from and inspired by movies.

Charlize Theron’s over-the-top performance was a trainwreck so, aside from the striking visuals (cinematography, art direction and costume design included), the best thing about Snow White and the Huntsman was the track that played over the end credits, Florence + The Machine‘s “Breath of Life”. It has an epic feel that goes very well with the movie’s martial twist on the classic fairy tale.
