Daniel Day-Lewis [29-Apr-1957]
Today, one of my absolute favorite actors, phenomenally talented Irishman Daniel Day-Lewis, turns 55. His stunning, Oscar-winning performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will be Blood remains the best showcase of acting I’ve ever seen. Sure, his adherence to “the Method” verges on the insane, but it has definitely paid off. So have a great birthday, you crazy, talented (and crazy talented) man!
Sad to say that I have heard so many great things about him but I haven’t seen anything of his. Oh, wait, I’ve seen his cameo in Gandhi, but I guess it doesn’t count since I didn’t notice him… 🙂

Yeah, it doesn’t count. You should watch My Left Foot, In The Name of the Father, Gangs of New York and, of course, There Will Be Blood. An insanely great actor.

Gangs of New York I may see because of Scorsese and DiCaprio (and Day-Lewis, since I’ve heard nothing but ultra-positive rave about him). My Left Foot and There Will Be Blood are on my list for the summer; haven’t gotten many votes, so I may check off the “sticky” option so that it sticks to the top of my blog, but Foot currently stands with a vote and Blood with two. So far, the top votes have been Drive, Se7en, This Is Spinal Tap, and Léon: The Professional, but they all only have three votes, haha.

One of my very favourite actors as well Fernando. I’m a big fan of him and DeNiro.

Oh I missed his b’day!! Wow, he still looks good for being in his mid 50s. I think he’s a tremendous actor, even in a so-so movie like NINE he still shines. I quite like him in The Age of Innocence.

He’s amazing. I agree that he shines in any picture. Nine was very disappointing for me in terms of story and songs, but the cast was amazing, especially him, Marion and Penélope.
