Warrior [2011]
Utterly captivating if just a little corny and unrealistic, Warrior features truly great dialogue as well as riveting fight sequences, not to mention a welcome change to the tried “from zero to hero” montage from every sports movie ever made. There is great acting to be found from rising stars Joel Edgerton (Animal Kingdom) and Tom Hardy (Inception). Nick Nolte, as their recovering alcoholic father, turns in my favorite supporting performance from a male actor in 2011. Without a doubt, one of the best and most underrated films of the year.
Yup I loved this film. Not as emotionally deep as The Fighter of last year, but still a great, emotionally involving film. Nick Nolte deserves a nomination!

Nick Nolte was incredible. I actually prefer this one to The Fighter.

I don’t think you quite liked it as much as I did, but I didn’t expect that either. It’s my second favorite sports film; as i havent seen Raging Bull yet, #1 should be obvious. (Rocky.) I’ve heard this compared to The Fighter enough–i might as well see it. Possible review upcoming on my blog of The Descendants, this Saturday. It just might be my favorite sports movie too, since I don’t watch a lot of those (I’ll have to think about it). Anyway, I liked Warrior a lot. It’s nice that you’ll be reviewing The Descendants since I’m watching it this week too. Thanks for all the nice comments 🙂
