Fright Night [2011]
Fright Night starts out as a quite fun horror/suspense/comedy hybrid. Colin Farrell handles the role of “Jerry” expertly, clearly relishing his time as a sexy vampire. Breakthrough actress Imogen Poots is also memorable. But about halfway in, Christopher Mintz-Plasse kills whatever momentum this Craig Gillespie-directed film had going. “McLovin” as a vampire is neither funny nor scary and his appearance signals the rapid decline of what could’ve been a very decent horror flick.
The original is so much better than this pointless remake.

It’s sad to see the cast go to waste, though: Toni Collette and Colin Farrell are two of my favorite actors and Anton Yelchin is proving he’s a great talent.
