Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
With each outing, the cast of Harry Potter grows more and more interesting. Three memorable characters and performances enter the picture: Evanna Lynch as ‘Luna Lovegood’, Imelda Staunton as ‘Dolores Umbridge’ and Helena Bonham Carter as ‘Bellatrix Lestrange’. Staunton is the best of the three, playing the ultimate bitch with gusto. Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix is the first Potter movie directed by David Yates, who would remain at the helm of the saga for the remaining three films, bringing his unique, dark vision; a vision that would define the Harry Potter aesthetic for all time. Exciting stuff. Prisoner of Azkaban remains my favorite because it’s closer to my heart, but Phoenix is certainly the one with the strongest writing and the most brilliant acting.
This might be more enjoyable for someone who’s read the books. There was surprisingly little magic in this chapter for a series that’s supposed to be about a wizard. Didn’t have enough excitement for me.
Yeah, maybe you’re right. Having read the books, I can’t separate the films from them, they complement each other. I’ve also heard you have to be a pretty big HP fan to enjoy this, too. I love it, I think it’s the best one.
I read every single book (some twice or three times), and I actually hated this film. I would give it two stars, because it was so poorly acted at times, it dumbed down from the amazement the book gave me, and it was just plain boring. I was very disappointed with this one as well as the next entry.
Wow. Really? I’ve also read the books, the last one twice and I actually think movie #5 is the best one.
You’re the first person I know to hear that, but then again people seem to gawk at me when I say Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was my favorite. It seems I hear from everyone that their favorite of the series was Prisoner of Azkaban, which I totally agree with, since it’s barely behind the most recent.
