12 Angry Men 2.0 (Casting suggestions)
I paid attention to the movie, I swear, but while I watched the 12 jurors deliberate and discuss, I couldn’t help but start to wonder who would play them if 12 Angry Men was remade in this decade. Here are my casting suggestions. I based my choices in physical resemblance (for some) and/or character traits. Please comment if you agree (or don’t) with my picks 🙂
Juror # 1 (played in the 1957 movie by Martin Balsam)
Juror # 2 (played in the 1957 movie by John Fielder)
2011 version: Neil Patrick Harris
Juror # 3 (played in the 1957 movie by Lee J. Cobb)
2011 version: Robert Downey Jr.
Juror # 4 (played in the 1957 movie by E.G. Marshall)
Or, based only on looks, then Bryan Cranston:
Juror # 5 (played in the 1957 movie by Jack Klugman)
Juror # 6 (played in the 1957 movie by Edward Binns)
2011 version: Benicio Del Toro
Juror # 7 (played in the 1957 movie by Jack Warden)
Juror # 8 (played in the 1957 movie by Henry Fonda)
Juror # 9 (played in the 1957 movie by Joseph Sweeney)
2011 version: Christopher Plummer
Juror # 10 (played in the 1957 movie by Ed Begley)
Juror # 11 (played in the 1957 movie by George Voskovec)
2011 version: Daniel Giménez Cacho
Juror # 12 (played in the 1957 movie by Robert Webber)

Great post Fermando. Some excellent alternatives there. I’ll have to think more on this one.

Thanks. That’s all I’m asking. I’m not saying there SHOULD be a remake, since the film is pretty amazing but if there was, these would be my choices.

There was a remake made in the 90s that was actually pretty good.
90% of the time when I watch a movie (especially an old movie) I make my own casting decisions…I’m glad I’m not alone in that

That’s right Andy, it was a TV movie wasn’t it? I thought something else had been done with this but I wasn’t certain. I must get onto IMDB.

When I was writing the reply I originally wrote “TV movie” but edited it since I wasn’t sure. I remember it being a TV movie, though.

Yeah, I tend to think “this actor/tress would be great in this role” and that type of thing but this was the first movie I rethought the whole cast for. I was aware of the TV movie but I haven’t seen it yet.

Yeah, I just checked it. It was a TV movie with very impressive cast also… Jack Lemmon, George C. Scott and James Gandolfini among others. ( I still like Fernando’s selections better though).

My favorite choices from your list are Ruffalo, Brody, Brolin, Plummer and Duvall. I can’t see Law in the Fonda rule. I would prefer Spacey in the Cobb role because of his crazy outbursts.
Any remake would probably include six women and be called 12 Angry Jurors. There would likely be a wider range of ethnicities too.

That’d be cool, too!

I could’ve sworn I’d commented on this about 3 months ago, but apparently I’m mistaken. I’d actually love for this film to be remade. Can’t get my hands on the TV version. It may just be the way the picture was taken, but I actually think Juror #4 looks a bit like DiCaprio. Our biggest agreement would be RDJ as Juror #3, but for some strange reason, I feel Alan Arkin would be a good #9. I remember this movie so clearly, as if I saw it yesterday, but it was actually more than half a year ago.
